Abstract
Sawar otak merupakan jembatan antara sirkulasi darah dan otak. Mekanisme pertahanan yang mengatur pertukaran molekul-molekul dari darah menuju ke otak. Terdapat tiga jenis sawar otak yaitu sawar darah-otak, sawar darah-cairan serebrospinal dan sawar darah-araknoid. Dalam tulisan ini akan dibahas ketiga jenis sawar otak tersebut, dengan berfokus pada sawar darah-otak yang merupakan sawar otak terluas permukaannya di otak. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk membahas lebih jauh mengenai mekanisme sawar otak yang kontribusinya dalam mekanisme fisiologis maupun pengantaran obat-obat sangat penting.
